About

A Copenhagen knife studio. Since 1998.

Danish design from Copenhagen — knives and tools made to be used, not displayed.

01/ How it began

The history

Willumsen was founded by Mikkel Willumsen — a Danish knife designer and craftsman — with a single rule: function first, no decoration that doesn't earn its place, materials chosen to last decades.

Year later, after partnering up with Pedro Engberg Andersen to strengthen the business and changing from "all by hand" to design and development, that rule still runs our studio.

What began as custom blades has grown into a full design house — folders, fixed blades, axes, multi-tools, and everyday objects used on six continents by people who depend on the things they carry.

The DNA is rooted in Danish design tradition. The output is rooted in real use. Every Willumsen tool is drawn by hand in Copenhagen and engineered to be the last one you buy.

02 / Philosophy

Form follows function — always.

Every Willumsen tool starts with a use case. The blade shape, the steel, the handle — all chosen because they make the tool work better, not because they look interesting.

If a feature doesn't add value, it doesn't belong. That's the rule Mikkel Willumsen has held to for over 25 years of designing knives in Copenhagen.

03 / Danish design, global mindset

Made in Copenhagen. Used worldwide.

Willumsen knives ship from Copenhagen to professionals and enthusiasts across Europe, North America, Asia, and beyond. The design language is Danish. The capability is universal.

04 / Built for the long run

Purpose-built tools. Built to last.

Stonewashed blades, full-tang construction, CNC-machined handles in G10 and pakkawood. Every spec is chosen for durability and feel-in-hand — the kind of object you keep for decades, not seasons.
